Multicultural Track - Saturday, April 28
Jesus has brought the "nations" to our doorsteps - let's prepare to reach them!
Are you involved in cross cultural or intercultural ministry? Are you interested in reaching out to particular language groups, international students, or a wide range of people groups? Then I would like to invite you and the members of your ministry team to join us. The Alpha course is available in 81 languages such as Spanish, French, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Portuguese, Vietnamese and many more!
Session 1 - Thinking Out Loud: Workgroup on Objectives and Objections in Mobilizing for a Cross-cultural Reality
American society is facing a new kind of migration, more diverse in skin color, in cultural levels and religious backgrounds. These groups are taking longer to assimilate the new language and societal ways given many factors: size of the groups, available inexpensive means of communication and accessible traveling. Nevertheless the church has the privilege and duty to accept them and to share Jesus with them. What are the hopes and hurdles churches are experiencing. Come to discuss your expectations and experiences in including people for other cultures into your congregation.
Session 2 - Case Study: Churches Mobilized to Encounter Cross-cultural Reality
Hear from three churches that have walked the path before you and are succeeding in different ways over the tension of being intentional in reaching the World at their different doorsteps. Learn from their struggles and wrestle with the realities they are battling in their multicultural ministries.
Session 3 - Alpha Options to Encounter Cross-cultural Reality and Conclusion
Learn about the tools available for you to use to communicate the gospel to people groups in your surroundings from Alpha Multicultural. Listen and dialogue over ways to communicate the gospel in mother tongues or simplified English to peoples of other national backgrounds. Feedback and share your opinion. No question is too simple and no opinion is hostile in Alpha!
