Bird's Eye Summary of the Conference

Hundreds of church leaders from all over the country attended the National Alpha Conference in Texas, including those who have never run the Alpha course before to those who have run the Alpha course for years. All were encouraged, empowered and inspired by times of worship, prayer and training in the 'Why's and How's' of the Alpha course.
Nicky Gumbel, best-selling author and senior pastor of London's Holy Trinity Brompton, the church where the Alpha course was born, was among the speakers, which included key members of the Holy Trinity Brompton, London Alpha team as well as numerous speakers from Alpha USA.

Opening prayers were said by Pastor Jackson Senyonga in the worship center of Irving Bible Church, host church to the conference and provider of scores of professional volunteers who helped run the conference.

Andy McQuitty, Senior Pastor, Irving Bible Church said, ‘Alpha has afforded many people in our church an opportunity to share God’s good news; I am so thrilled to have Alpha on our campus for this wonder conference.’

Worship was led by Brenton Brown, the popular singer and songwriter based in southern California, writer of ‘Come, Now is the Time’ and ‘Your Love is Amazing’.

The conference featured a day of Pre-Conference Intensives providing an opportunity for more in-depth training, best practices sharing, networking and strategizing workshops depending on particular areas of interest or roles, such as Senior Pastors, Church Planting with Alpha, Alpha Advisors, the Marriage Course, Alpha in various contexts.

Gerard Long, Alpha USA Executive Director, spoke on Mobilizing the Church for Evangelism.  He inspired and encouraged attendees to be strong and courageous, and not discouraged as they bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the world.

The National Alpha Conference empowered, encouraged and inspired attendees as they learned about running the Alpha course in different contexts, whether their churches have never used the course before or have been using it for years.
