Youth Alpha
As the Alpha course grew, people began searching for ways of presenting the material in a way that would appeal to young people... so Youth Alpha was developed.
"I was very excited by the prospect of running Youth Alpha for the first time and have not been disappointed. All the young people on the course have grown immensely - its given them new confidence and security in their faith, and galvanised them in their involvement with the church."
"'My life will never be the same. I have had an emptiness inside of me since my pre-teen years. I filled that emptiness with meaningless things."
"(Alpha) has been great! I loved it. Good kids fall into places they should not be. They want to be accepted. They do not know of the love and acceptance of God..."
There are now thousands of churches of all denonimations, youth clubs and schools around the world running the course. Youth Alpha is designed for a generation who need something more interactive and faster paced. The course follows the same weekly topics as the regular Alpha course based on the book Questions of Life by Nicky Gumbel, but is presented live and contextualized for the guests.
Specially-designed manuals for Youth Alpha are aimed at two age groups: 11 - 14 and 15 - 18 years. The Youth Alpha Leader's Guide offers great ideas and advice about how to communicate the course at each of the weekly sessions. The best results are often found when the course is integrated into an ongoing strategy of discipleship and outreach.
If you are interested in running Youth Alpha, then come along to an Alpha conference to find out more. Conferences look in detail at all aspects of setting up and running the course, including the weekend away - many include a breakout session on Youth Alpha.
