THE APPLICATION PROCESS

Due Dates:

Applications for the Vintage Internship will be accepted on a rolling basis up until the start date of the next round of the Vintage Internship on August 14, 2011, as long as open positions remain with Vintage. If you are on Track 1 and hope to work for AmeriCorps as part of your Vintage Internship, please be advised that positions with AmeriCorps are filling up very quickly and that separate applications must be submitted to AmeriCorps.

Requirements to Apply:

Age: The Vintage internship is primarily for young adults who are at least 18 but usually under 30.

Education: High school diploma or higher.

Citizenship: The Vintage Internship is intended for American citizens because it is a part of Alpha USA. However, some Canadian interns who initiate contact with Vintage might be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis. Obtaining the proper visa is the applicant’s responsibility. Assistance from Vintage staff is not available at this time for helping prospective Canadian interns obtain visas to become Vintage interns.

Car: Each Vintage intern must have a car he/she can bring or could borrow once in Seattle. He/she must have gas money to drive himself/herself to work and to Alpha training and events.

Computer: Each prospective Vintage applicant must have a computer he/she can bring to the Vintage Internship.

The application process involves the following:

— Fill out the Vintage Internship Application and submit it online. If you have questions you would like to ask before filling out the application, feel free to contact the Director of the Vintage Internship, Janessa Futrell, or call her at (937) 572-0066.

— Please have two people write reference letters for you. Each letter should contain the person’s name, position/title, mailing address, email, and phone number so that the Director of the Vintage Internship can contact both of the references. At least one of these references should be a pastor and/or ministry leader. The letters can be submitted either by you, or by the writers of the letters. Each letter should have an original signature (in ink) by the person who wrote the letter. The letters should be mailed to Janessa Futrell, Director of Alpha’s Vintage Internship, c/o Westminster Chapel, 13646 NE 24th Street, Bellevue, WA, 98005. (If you are applying to AmeriCorps, please note that AmeriCorps has a standard Reference Form which needs to be submitted. You CAN submit copies of those AmeriCorps Reference Forms in place of the reference letters for your Vintage application.)

— If you are on Track 1 and desire to work for AmeriCorps as part of your Vintage Internship, you can begin looking over the AmeriCorps application (which is separate from the Vintage application). However, Vintage recommends NOT submitting your application to AmeriCorps without first sending a copy of your AmeriCorps application to Vintage staff so that Vintage staff can read it over and make recommendations for what types of editing on your AmeriCorps application would increase your chances for getting accepted into AmeriCorps.

— Once your Vintage application has been received, you may be requested to participate in an interview with a Vintage staff member which can be done by phone or in person.

— If you are accepted into Vintage, you must complete additional paperwork before you will be offered a host home in which to live. This additional paperwork may include a photocopy of your passport (if you are on the INTERNATIONAL track), emergency contact information, etc.
