Training others to Run Alpha is exhilarating

Warnick1 edited

Pastor David Warnick and his wife, who live in Idaho, USA, have led three Alpha GAT teams to India because they have a great time doing it! They have taken different people with them who have either worked with or gone through their Alpha course.

They believe that teaching leaders in another nation about Alpha is exhilarating because:

• They know they are partnering with the Holy Spirit on a grand adventure -- His rescue operation throughout Planet Earth. David likes to think of himself as a representative of "Galactic Mgmt. Associates" -- a family owned and operated enterprise! In a word, God is up to something and Alpha is part of it.

• When they teach about Alpha, they are more than an interchangeable cog in a generic mission team. They are able to communicate their hard-won experience, the battle scars they have endured, and pass it on to others who are looking to be more fruitful in reaching people and reaching today's culture.

• They get to touch many more churches and groups in a few days than they could in other mission trip scenarios. And of course they also learn more about the spiritual climate and hear more diversity of testimonies and stories than they could in almost any setting. This is important because they come away at least as encouraged as the people attending the training. It is important to the delegates that someone from another nation believes in Alpha enough to take time to come halfway around the world (which it literally is in the Warnick’s case!) to present it; but it is also vital to them to see the Lord of the Earth is busy saving and delivering and building His kingdom everywhere!

• There are challenges -- whether it ranges from mosquitoes to food to translating ideas between languages -- but the love and warmth of the hosts has consistently made the challenges an adventure rather than a trial.
