From California to Guatamala
Sue Ritter of First Pres in Visalia, CA led a team from her church on their first GAT to Guatamala in August.
Alpha USA: What prompted you do go on a GAT?
Sue: Our Missions Director came back from a Living Waters trip and we decided the people receiving Pure Water should also receive the Living Water Jesus Christ in their church communities. Hence, the water was combined with the Word through the Alpha Course.
Alpha USA: Where did you go on your GAT?
Sue: We went to Guatamala.
Alpha USA: How many people attended your GAT?
Sue: 30 Pastors or Pastors-in-Training
Alpha USA: What did you enjoy most about your GAT?
Sue: I enjoyed the actual teaching and seeing how the participants responded with enthusiasm, commitment to their faith, and to running the course in their churches as well as the prison in the area.
Alpha USA: What kind of results did you see from the GAT?
Sue: The Pastor leader told us before we left that there were two pastors who planned to run courses as soon as they could do the planning, others were waiting until after the rainy season in January, a couple others were going to run a course in the prison.
Alpha USA: How would you encourage someone considering participating on a GAT?
Sue: I would say that if anyone out there is passionate about Alpha they should try a GAT. It's not only part of God's ultimate plan, it's incredibly "do-able".
