VISION

Alpha exists to equip American churches, through the tool of The Alpha Course, to do the work of evangelism in contemporary culture; to make disciples of Jesus Christ from all walks of life to transform our society one life, one church, and one community at a time.

MISSION and GOALS

The mission of Alpha USA/ Twin Cities is to build a network of Alpha churches and develop more and better Alpha courses throughout the five state and Twin Cities metropolitan region. Our goal is to carry out this mission by:

1. Building a regional team made up of an Advisory Board, regional planning team volunteers, senior pastors and churches, Alpha practitioners, Alpha Advisors, financial partners, ministry partners, and members of the Alpha USA Central Support Team;

2. Developing an over all strategy focused on building relationships with local leaders in the Twin Cities area, running promotional and training events, carrying out an annual “Invitation To Dinner,” developing partnerships with other ministry organizations, expanding the Alpha course into new people groups, and into specialized courses;

3. Working with the Alpha USA Central Support Team for, marketing support, publication materials, national conferences and training, and web and database support;

4. Developing partnerships with individuals, churches and organizations for financial support.

History

As of January 1, 2009 Alpha Northland became Alpha USA/ Twin Cities. Alpha USA/ Twin Cities operates as a regional branch of Alpha USA, much like a bank might operate several “branches” to better serve their customers closer to where they live.

Why a Local Office?

Why not work directly with Alpha USA?

Alpha USA has a very small staff located in the Chicago area. It is not equipped to help individual congregations start and operate the Alpha course. The central role of Alpha USA is to provide support and administrative help to each regional office.

A regional office is much better able to serve the churches and organizations in their local area than is one large national office. Each regional office is located in closer proximity to the churches and pastors in their area, allowing for more frequent and face-to-face support and assistance, resourcing and networking. Each region is also able to provide training that is more frequent, timely and much less expensive for pastors and leaders to attend since they can often be held within only a few hours drive. National conferences often require three days or more and involve much higher travel and hotel expenses.

Regional offices provide an “extension” of the Alpha USA presence, support, training and resources directly into the heart of dozens of regions across the USA, and at a much smaller cost than employing a large staff in one location of the country.

How is Alpha USA/ Twin Cities funded?

Each regional “branch” office of Alpha USA is responsible for raising its own operating funds to pay for staff, office administration, and the "Alpha Invitation" media campaign. Our financial support comes primarily from individuals, partner churches, and foundations.
