Through the pain of divorce to hope in Jesus

motherdaughterIn January  of 2002 my husband told me he wanted a divorce.  I asked a friend from the Church where my daughter attended pre-school to tell me more about Alpha - I had noticed there was a banner out in front of the Church.

That very night I went to Alpha.  When I got home, I told my husband where I had been and asked him to forgive me. He said he would and he even went through most of the rest of the course with me.  However, he still decided that he wanted to go through with the divorce.  Those were crushing and difficult days for me and my daughter, but I had found Jesus and joined the Santa Ynez Valley Presbyterian Church.  I went on to help and attended about 4 or 5 more Alpha courses.  In 2007 I was asked to be a Deacon at my Church.  Finding Jesus through the Alpha course was a true blessing.

I loved the way that Nicky Gumbel explained things.Throughout the ten weeks, I was able to see the wrong paths I had taken before and was able to change those habits and patterns.

Even now, six years later, I still I feel a true peace about my life.  Life is difficult as a single mother, yet I know that Jesus is right there with me. I always felt that there was something missing and now that Jesus is in my life I know that is was knowing Him.
