Starting a New Alpha Course

Claudia-3

Not sure where to start? Here are the Top Ten Questions of a New Course.

Below are a few things you need to know to get off to a good start with running an Alpha course.

1.  Pray.  Pray for favor and open doors from the Lord in building your Alpha team, working with your pastor and others in leadership, and for many guests with seeking hearts.

2.  Plan to attend an Alpha Training event and if possible, bring a team of people along with you!

3.  Get the necessary Alpha Resources.

4.  Register your course on the Alpha Directory.  Here is a list of benefits from being on the directory:

  • Your course will be listed on Alpha USA's website with search capabilities by City, State, and Zip Code.
  • Your course will be included in the US version of Alpha News.
  • You will receive a free copy of the US version of Alpha News 3 times per year.
  • You will receive regular updates about Alpha developments, new resources, conferences and events in your area.
  • You will have the opportunity to participate in joint advertising with neighboring churches in your area.
  • Your course leaders and guests will receive prayer support.

5.  Find a mentor church.  Is there a church that has a well run course in your geographical area or within your denomination?  Ask them for assistance in getting your course started. Perhaps you can do your Training or Weekend Away together, or a few from your team could attend a course given at that church.
